Avantika is an Indian-American artist in Berlin who is enchanted by metals, glass, and found objects. Having moved around throughout her life, she’s always felt more connected to things than places. By questioning the phenomenons of our own world, she extracts little moments of clarity and synchronicity and zooms in on them. She then experiments with the specific placement of objects to connote importance or ritual.
Sun’s Syrup is her jewelry project, in which she combines silver and glass, individually making every piece at her studio in Berlin.
Avantika was born in Washington DC and has lived in Seoul, Hanoi, Dubai, and Chicago before moving to Berlin.
She recieved a BFA with a thesis in Visual & Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
